What you Need to Know about the Weather in Cancun

When you are choosing a vacation destination the likelihood of great sunny weather is a big deal. You want sun and warmth and, if possible, not too much wind. This is why Cancun is one of the most popular destinations for vacationers from the USA and Canada; it has one of the best climates for beach vacations in the area and has, on average, the most sunny days and highest temperatures on average throughout the year.

You’ll never have to worry about getting your daily dose of sunshine and vitamin D n Cancun as, by and large, 250 sunshine days are reported there per year! With, on average, only 60 rainy days a year, too, you are unlikely to ever see dark skies unless you get unlucky during hurricane season. A few spring showers won’t dampen your vacation though, the weather in Cancun is ideal. What’s more you can make the most of your days when you choose a vacation in Cancun as the average length of the day ranges between 11 to 13 hours long and the evenings are balmy. Cancun is a great place in which to escape the short days of the northern hemisphere winters!



If you’re a sun worshipper or a lover of heat Cancun will be somewhat of a Mecca for you. Even during the heart of winter the temperatures are cosy and the water is pleasantly warm, at around 80ºF (26ºC) to 83ºF (28ºC), and a delight to swim in. Temperatures can vary from 66ºF (19ºC) to 91ºF (33ºC) with average high temperatures in summer reaching around 90ºF (32ºC) and hitting their lowest around the 75ºF (24ºC) mark. In winter, very pleasant temperatures, around 81ºF (27ºC) with an average low at night of 66ºF (19ºC), can be enjoyed by all. Escaping the winter blues is easy when you live in the USA and Canada; just hop down to Cancun on one of the many direct flights to enjoy the weather in Cancun.


As we said before there are generally only around 60 days of rain per year, and there is no real “rainy season” which means that you won’t have to worry about your whole vacation getting washed out by a monsoon or rogue deluge. In fact, if you see any rain it will most likely be a quick shower. Two showers if you are really unlucky.;
